Baby Steps Out Of The Comfort Zone
We all have one. They either serve us well or hold us back. Only you get to decide what yours is doing for you!
When I think of leaving my comfort zone I often think that I need to take a giant leap of faith and do it all at once. What if we were able to leave our comfort zones in a more gentle, less scary way?
My comfort zone has been tested, time and time again. I like pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone…in some areas. I still struggle leaving my comfort zone in the health and wellness area but that’s a post for a different day!
All the personal & spiritual growth that I’ve experienced over the last couple years has been because of taking, mostly, baby steps outside my comfort zone. Sometimes the baby step can feel so hard but it always leads to growth in the right direction.
*Deep breath in – take the baby step*
I’d find myself thinking, “LOOK! You’re outside your comfort zone. Sure, you’re not far out of it but you’re out of it AND making progress! Look at you go!”
I’d hang out in the new outside-my-comfort-zone area for bit and before I knew it – it had become my new comfort zone! Repeat this process until I’m far enough away from that old comfort zone that I can see real change in the direction of my dreams!
When I was invited to be a teacher for Brave Girl University, aside from the honor and deep sense of gratitude I experienced, it felt like a huge leap waaaaaay out of my comfort zone because I’ve never taught lessons on video before. I’ve baby stepped my way to a series of videos (thank you for your help Linda!) for a lesson I call, Joyful Me. I learned so much while recording these lessons and I feel proud that I was able to step out of my comfort zone in order to share some of the lessons I’ve learned, that might help you, too. I like to think that we’ll grow together.
There are so many AWESOME teachers that are part of Brave Girl University, launching on Sept. 1! They will guide us through everything from art to meditation, cooking to gardening and wellness, soulful chats and creative processes. There’s something for everyone. Save your no-obligation-I-want-to-be-in-the-loop spot!
This Brave Girl University Teacher Introduction video isn’t perfect but it is authentically me. And really, what more can a girl ask for? I am perfectly imperfect and I’m ok with that!
We’ve saved a spot for you, I hope you’ll join us. Even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone! xo
