SHIFT: More Happiness, More Joy & More Play (October 2015)

Shift2015

October 23 – 25, 2015

We will gather at The Garage Photographic

10540 124 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB, Canada

There comes a time when we realize that life is more than our to-do lists and busy lives. We want something more. We crave something more. We need something more: something bigger than ourselves yet within ourselves. Sometimes we don’t know where to start.

SHIFT invites you to start here!

Slip into an atmosphere where it’s ok to dip your toes in the sand, swing on a swing and color on the tables! Our primary focus is to help you leave your everyday life at the door and shift closer to what makes you happy. Let us nourish you with good food, soulful conversations and creative processes. Re-discover what happiness means to you and explore ways to welcome more happiness, more joy and more play into your daily life.

This is a hands-on event with lots of room for creativity, meditation, connection and play. These nine heart centered souls will take you on a SHIFT journey to help shine light and awareness on happiness & joy.

Here’s what we’ve got in store for YOU!

Building a Solid Foundation for Happiness, Joy and Play
Psychologist, Gemma Stone of GemmaStone.org & The Great Life Redesign
So you want to experience more happiness, joy, and play in your life? Me too. Let’s dive in.
Develop specific practices based on the science of the mind to help you experience more of what you want. In this session we’ll find your rituals for happiness, joy, and play and anchor them in using psychology and soul to help you live a life you love.

Let it be Easy: Even When it Isn’t
Shift Creator, Melsha Shea of MelshaShea.com:
Shift2-118Life delivers us life lessons in the form of ups & downs. There was a time when there wasn’t a balance of ups & downs in Melsha’s life. Sometimes, things appear to be out of our control. Melsha opens up to share some of her down moments that have changed her course in life. She vulnerably shares how letting go of who she thought she should be to become who she really is was the shift that led to a life filled with more happiness, joy & play. Some of her hardest lessons have guided her to practice gratitude, embrace worthiness, choose happiness, be mindful of stealing joy and letting it be easy, even when it wasn’t so easy. We’ll adventure into some activities to help build your awareness around letting it be easy and adding more joy, happiness & play in your everyday life.

My Pen: My Friend
Writer, Lori-Ann Claerhout of LoriClaerhout.com:
What if all of the rules just slipped away? What if you could pick up your pen and let it guide you into more happiness, more joy, and more play? Through writing and other exercises that access the deepest spaces of your intuition, we will explore your deeply playful side. Let your pen be your friend in letting the words out. Invite freedom to join our frolic through the English
language. Picture ease, confidence, and delight on following where your whims take you. Allow that we may just hatch a few unexpected plans in the process! You will leave with at least three tools for accessing what wants to be found out and written down. And, really, what wants to surface is pure love.

Happy Hormones, Happy Life!
Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Marie Tower of Marie Tower Nutrition:
The feelings we experience are nothing more than chemical reactions taking place inside our bodies. Each and every emotion we experience is the result of the release of certain hormones inside our bodies. Some hormones are responsible for making us feel good, some are responsible for making us feel bad while others are responsible for the feelings we get when we fall in love.  How do we help create more of the hormones that can help us fall in love with our life so we can find more happiness, joy and love in the little things, each day?  Marie will show you how.

Intro to Meditation, Mindfulness & Mala Making
Meditation Teacher & Mala Maker, Bri Waldeck of Precious Malas:
Meditation can open a whole new world for you!  We’ll dive into the particulars of changes in brain chemistry when meditation practices are followed, why mala beads are a fantastic tool to keep your mind focused during meditation, and being mindful of mindfulness. Bri will give you a glimpse into her story of hitting rock bottom, how making malas and meditating changed her life in a profound way and led her to much joy and happiness. Bri will guide us as we set intentions, cleanse and create our own custom wrist malas. You’ll leave this session with a custom wrist mala – created & made by you, a joy focused mantra and the knowledge to add meditation practices to your daily life.

Love, Light, & Shadows.
Photographer, Linda Patterson of Vision Icon Photographic:
We judge ourselves. A lot. We judge ourselves in ways that we would never think of judging others yet we inflict this pain on ourselves all too often. When you look into the eyes of another you see beyond the imperfections to where the essence shines brightly. We’ll explore celebrating our perceived imperfections. Those wrinkles, the extra 10lbs, the skinny legs, the scars and the age spots are the roadmaps to our soul; the evidence of the life we have lived so far. We’re going to celebrate the light & shadows within.

The Little Book of Gratitude, Art & Soul: Mixed Media Journaling
Artist, Jenn Garman of Jenn Garman Mixed Media:
We’re about to get creative with Jenn Garman and you don’t have to be a pro to get creative yourself! We’ll explore crafting a visual representation of our gratitude, emotions & feelings using various art supplies and media, create mixed media layers and be introduced to unique journaling techniques, tips and tricks. You’ll leave this session with a handmade art journal, stunning, soulful art journal pages – created by you!

Joy Multiplied
Creator of LL2S, Ashley Green of Love Letters 2 Strangers:
Do we really need to know someone to be able to respect, appreciate and show love to them? I don’t think so. Join Ashley Green as she shares her story about how giving to strangers changed her perception of living joyfully. The small act of love letters has the potential for greatness. Her hope is that, if nothing else, this simple project reminds you to look for, seek out and celebrate every opportunity to make a positive impact in someone’s life. This session will bring out your creativity as you create your own joy to share with others.

Everyday Self Love
Life Coach, Heidi Nicole of Heidi Nicole Professional Coaching
Self-love is not something you achieve but rather something you DO for yourself every single day for the rest of your life. Through the practice of self-love, we can be open ourselves to more love from others, accept our amazing bodies, validate feelings we never even knew existed and have greater courage to go after our dreams. Facing the world can be daunting. It’s full of pressure, shame, fear and the chase. Heidi Nicole teaches women how practicing self-love daily can create a new foundation for major shifts in confidence, connectedness and comfort in every aspect of their lives. Leave this session with your individualized plan for Everyday Self Love and space for more joy, happiness and play in your life.
